A Note from Philip Bermingham about Celebrities and Your Personal Portrait:
"Although I often photograph celebrities from the artistic, business, and
political worlds, I relish recording real people and documenting their
relationships. Those relationships might be that of an extended or nuclear
family, a marriage, or a friendship. Even in solo portraits, I aim to record a
person's relationship with him or her self and with the outside world
because this reflects who they really are. Knowing how you define yourself
will give us many clues as to how you hope to be recorded on film. Are
you a wife, a mother, a husband, a father, a brother, a sister, a successful
professional, an athlete or an artist? What is most important to you? What
are you committed to? The sum total of that is what I aim to record. Those
questions should suggest locations, moods, groupings, etc. Take time to
think about these things and I assure you the time you spend will reap ideas
and satisfying results."
